Our Communities

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD) has launched “Retire Tennessee,” a pilot program promoting Tennessee as a great place for retirees to call home.

ECD has selected nine Tennessee communities to participate in the pilot program: Cumberland, Greene, Hamilton, Hardin, Henry, Lawrence, Marshall, Putnam and Sullivan Counties. ECD selected communities for the program based on their efforts to develop retiree recruitment strategies and their progress with an optional retiree recruitment component of the Three-Star program.

Below are the nine pilot communities and their Web sites. These are the Tennessee communities that met the state’s criteria of providing the resources and amenities needed to be a viable retirement destination.
